I have been sewing like crazy lately focusing, mainly, on the Market and two Birthdays we have coming up on Saturday. Then yesterday it hit me.
Mother’s Day.
Sunday. *Panic*. I forgot.
I can’t believe I forgot. We live 3000 miles away from my Mom, whom I love so very much, and I would have to mail whatever I am sending Wednesday!
OK. So I start browsing through the internet
for inspiration, and it hit me. Yay! I came up with two very nice projects to make for her and they are both easy enough to make quickly.
The first one is a Rice Buddy Heating Pad.
I started with an old leg from one of my daughter’s jeans (when they get holes in the knees I just make them into shorts). Luckily,I saved them.
I sewed it into a rectangle leaving one side open.
Next, my little one helped me scoop rice into it.
I sewed up the opening. I next let my 3 year old pick out fabric to make the cover and some ribbon, and I encased the pillow in it.
Great for soothing sore muscles. Just heat in the microwave for a few minutes and it retains its heat for up to 3 hours.
The next thing I whipped up is a bag to hold plastic bags. So good when you need a space to store your bags. My mom has 5 cats and as many litter boxes. This will be a great thing to keep all of her bags in order.
I am so happy I remembered.
I’d love to hear some of your ideas for Mother’s Day!
